Thepose, and consequent effects of the expedition against the Miami towns, and the present posture of affairs between the United States, and the Wabash and other hostile Indians, reach west of the Ohio, are well known to you and the inhabitants of Kentucky generally.
The President of the United States is anxious that provision should be made for the protection of the frontiers adequate to the occasion, both before the Legislature a full statement of the recent Indian depredations.
The acts of the distributions of Congress will be communicated to you by the Honorable Mr. Breckon.
It would be highly satisfactory to the President of the United States, could a firm peace be established without further effusion of blood; and although he conceives the sacred principles of humanity, and a regard to the welfare of the country dictates
