Henry Knox Esq^r Secretary of War United States Loan Office Boston 5^th March 1793 Sir I have this day began to pay the Invalid Pensioners & have met with a circumstance which I think proper to inform you of viz Wareham Emons applied for his pension & produced a Certificate from the State signed John Lucas purporting that he is intitled to eighteen shillings equal to three Doll^s p^r month whereas I received y^r list of Pensioners found him stated at only Doll 1 Month I informed him of this disagreem^t & applied to M^r Lucas who has since examined into the matter knows me on the subject an extract of which I now inclose you as also a copy of the Certificate in the possession of said Warren I shall be glad of your directions in this case — with great respect I am S^r y^r most Ob^t Hum Servant N R
