I have been informed that you have received a communication from the State of Connecticut, relative to the accounts of John Sherman, one of the Agents for distributing the final fittlement Certificates to the Army; if this is the case, I request that you would inform me of the nature of it.
I shall be obliged to you for information, by whom the arrangement for appointing agents was made, the manner in which they were appointed, and whether any, or what security was taken for the execution of their respective trusts.
