Your letter of the 4 Inst. on the Subject of advances made by this State to the Widows and Orphans of the Officers who died in the Service of the United States, on account of the five Years half pay has been rec.d And as it [undecipherable] to me from the manner of expressing in your letter, whether you have received a return of the [undecipherable] Officers made by the Committee appointed by the Legislature for finally liquidating and Settling the Invalid accounts and which was Supposed to have been by them Transmitted with the Invalids return on the 8 Day of [undecipherable] 1789 I now enclose a Copy of it, by which it will appear that the whole Sum Advanced by this State to the Widows and Orphans Amounted to £3334. 3. 4. for which Sum the General Treasurer of this State has issued his Notes on Interest except for £84. 9. 9. being paid in Specie for interest due Ann Green and Mary [undecipherable].
