K NOW all Men by these Presents, that James M. McFarland late [undecipherable] in the [undecipherable] Line
in the service of the United States of America, for a valuable and full consideration to [undecipherable] in hand paid, at or before the execution hereof, by [undecipherable]
the receipt whereof, is hereby acknowledged, have, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, release, transfer and assign unto him, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever. All the right, title, interest, property, claim and demand, which [undecipherable] now have, or which [undecipherable] heirs, executors, or administrators, may, at any time hereafter, have to all and singular the lands, pay arrears of pay, clothing, rations, rewards, bounties, gratuities, prize-monies and all other demands, due and owing to [undecipherable] from the United States, or from any particular State. my true and lawful attorney irrevocably, to ask, demand, recover and receive, of and from the United States, or from any particular State, or from any person or persons, acting by, from, or under them, or either of their Authority, all and singular the lands, pay, arrearages of pay, clothing, rations, rewards, bounties, gratuities, prize-money and other demands due, owing, payable and belonging to [undecipherable] deferred from [undecipherable] by any manner of ways or means whatsoever, and, upon receipt thereof, to execute and deliver sufficient and requisite receipts, releases, and acquittances for the same, and any good and sufficient conveyances and assurances in the law. to grant, bargain, fell, release and confirm the said lands to the purchaser or purchasers thereof, his, her or their heirs and assigns forever. And also to sell, assign and transfer, all certificates and registered, or other Stock, now, or hereafter, standing in [undecipherable] name.
To the books of the treasury of the United States, or of any particular State, for or in consequence of [undecipherable] services aforesaid, with power of attorney, or attorneys under him for the purposes aforesaid, to make, and substitute and to do all and every other act and thing whatsoever, as fully and effectually to all intents and purposes, as [undecipherable] might or could do, by being personally present, and [undecipherable] have done the same. Hereby ratifying and confirming, allowing all, and whatsoever the said attorney, or his substitute or substitutes, shall, or may do, or cause to be done therein, by virtue hereof.
