Danville, July 8. 1790.
Sir: I have, this day, received a letter from Governor StClair, dated the 5th inst "at the Rapids of Ohio" he says, "that the expectations of peace which I much wished, cannot be realized with the people on the Wabash, [strikethrough: and] in consequence I have come here sooner than I otherwise [strikethrough: should] have done, to prepare for operating against them." He has requested me to apprize the field of the district, that he shall call for proportions of the Militia they are to furnish, in consequence of the orders he has received from the President.
I am &c.
