War office July 1st 1790
Sir,
I have received from the Secretary of the common
wealth of massachusetts a return of the invalid Pensioners
of the united states residing within the said common
wealth Signed by John Avery and dated on the 9th of June.
As this return it appears is correct on the
one & compliant of former returns I have the honor
of transmitting you a list of the names and the sums
to be paid each, with my warrant thereon for the payment
of the first and Second moiety with duplicates.
I have considered it unnecessary in order to
simplify the business, to request that you will consider
this as the original to which in all cases you are to
refer, and to return the former lists to me as not
necessary to you as vouchers. In either case the
lists transmitted you on the 10th february 19th march 18th
10th april together with my warrants thereon, and the
duplicates thereof are to be considered as cancelled
& void
