War Office May 25^th 1790 Sir, The Secretary of the Treasury has informed me that he has furnished you with the necessary funds on the second moiety of the Invalid Pensions, for the year 1789. I have concluded that it would be unnecessary to transmit you a Second list of the Invalids in the State of Massachusetts — I only transmit you my Warrant for the second moiety of the annual Pension of the Invalids agreeably to the Second list which I transmitted you on the fourth of april last. It is highly probable that several of the Invalids contained in the said list who have not applied for their first and may not apply for their Second payment are dead. It is a circumstance of considerable importance to endeavour to ascertain the fact in order that a perfect list of the Invalids may be had — I will therefore thank you to obtain the information as soon as possible and transmit it to me on or before the first of august next. You will also be pleased to notify in the public papers that the payment of the Second moiety will commence on the 5^th of June next.
