In answer to your letter of the 27. Inst. respecting the accounts of General Hazen & his several claims upon the United States, I beg leave to refer you to my report, and letter, of the [8] day of [Ultimo] and the documents therewith, which contains all the information in my possession relative to the situation of those Accts. Clms as also the obstacles which operated with the late Commrs of Army Accts. in the admission of the claims of the General —
