Dear Sir
It is justly apprehended that of the Governors there may not be a sufficient number of Members at Philadelphia on the next monday to do the indispensable duty to choose the General Officers, and Style maryland & have her representatives there — I wrote to Genl Smallwood some time ago on the subject but as he may not get the letter or the Bishop Claxton for troops perhaps [strikethrough: Washington] for said Maybe at a distance I have chosen to address this letter by you — I earnestly entreat that the Members laid down be represented, & so we shall form a quorum
