Stores for Companies Mustered, Sent for a Doctor for Sick Men
Document 1790Price has packed and delivered all the stores according to Knox's orders, except for square files because he has none, and transmitted returns and receipts for each Captain. Three companies have been mustered but Captain Smith's is incomplete. The detachment remaining at West Point consists of eighteen men of whom eight are sick. Price has sent for Doctor Adams to attend them but worries that some will have to be discharged. He transmits muster and inspection rolls. Price has purchased 30 cords of wood in addition to the allowance, certificate enclosed. Nine bedsacks, five blankets, and 18 pounds brimstone were delivered to the hospital. Price enumerates the number of suits of infantry clothing received and distributed. Price hopes that Knox approves of sending for Doctor Adams; it could not be avoided. Captain Smith has a portmanteau which he is to pay for, his receipt for it is enclosed. Price also encloses a return of clothing received from Captain John Smith.
