[XXVI. 22 5 5 48]
[Dr Peirce]
Boston April 4. 1790
My dear friend, It being expected that a number of troops will soon be raised — Mr Wm Turner has requested me to mention to you his Son Edward who wishes to enter the service. I observed to him that the many officers of the late Army would have a kind of claim to a preference and of course there could scarcely be a chance for him — however should there be he is a tall young man of a fine form, and having a propensity for the profession of Arms I think would do honor to it. We hope for the pleasure of seeing you here in June to muster in your [undecipherable]. Mrs Peirce joins me in best respects to Mrs Knox &c. I am with sentiments of esteem
