Payment of invalids
Document 1790Payment of invalids was by appropriation of county taxes which were to be reimbursed out of the state Treasury. By this arrangement, the unhappy sufferers were permitted to reside among friends and received their subsistence at home. In consequence, there has been more attention to their demands. Has not received from State Executive a complete list, but has reason to believe that there very few invalids who have not received the first half yearly payment.
