Agreeably to your request of this day I have examined into the accounts of the State of Connecticut and do not find that any Monies have been advanced by that State to Capt John Stevens late an Hostage taken at the Cedars. This Gentleman has received his Commutation & part of his pay of the U States, but his depreciation & pay to the 31 Decr 1782 I am of opinion is still due him.
