[12 March 1790 The Register of the treasury —] M^r Nourse has the Honor to enclose to the Secretary his official Statements relative to Allowances for Travelling Expenses — he begs leave to observe that his Search into the Treasury Records has not been confined only to those Objects mentioned in his Statements, but to others, which not applying to the Secretary's Object, he has not taken any Notice of. Such as Commissions appointed to settle State Accounts, & District Commissioners whose travelling Expen[ses] were not allowed — All the Allowances made to them was, for either freight or carriage of Boxes containing their Act[s]; neither were the Travelling Expenses of the Indian Commiss[ioners] allowed — . 12^th March 1790 Honorable Henry Knox Secretary at War.
