Your letter of the 20. Decemb. last did not reach me until the 20. Inst. — agreeably to your request I now send you inclosed a Copy of the Receipts given by Samuel Beach to the late Commissioners of Army Accounts for three your L &S Certificates amounting to 2400 dols being for Commutation of five years full pay in lieu of half pay during life, also for one Certificate for fifty two dollars, being for pay for from the 1 Jany to the 9 July, 1782 at which period your discharge took place — the Certificates for Commutation were delivered in pursuance of your power of attorney, which power was produced, but [strikethrough: he] withdrawn by Mr. Beach as it extended to the receiving of your State Certificates. the latter Certificate was given in pursuance of your letter of to the late Commissioners bearing date the 22. Septemb. 1787.
