I shall only observe, that independent of the natural biass of my mind to a military life, the misfortune of my family, which has been reduced by the War, from [undecipherable] to an unenviable situation! and my self to a mortifying dependency will I hope be accepted as a sufficient apology for troubling you with my wishes for an appointment. Should there be any additions made to the troops already in the service, and while I flatter myself that I shall be equally considered with the Officer of the second and third late Federal Regiments, I have the honor to assure you, that as heretofore my military conduct has been irreproachable.
