Curtenius (Copied)] John Pierce Esq^r Paymaster Gen: Philadelphia [FREE] New york Nov^r 13 1784 Sir By a late law of this State I am directed to audit the accounts of the Militia Officers of this State for their pay during the time they were in captivity & to deduct from the pay of the Officers such sums as have been advanced to them whilst they were prisoners, an abstract of which I am informed has been transmitted to you by the different Commissaries of Prisoners, a Copy of which I shall be glad you would please to transmit to me with all convenient Speed & haste that I may deduct from each Officers such sums as they stand charged with in your books — I also wish to be inform'd by you upon what principles you have settled with the Continental Prisoners that I may govern my Self accordingly I am Sir Your most Ob[edient]
