As I presume you will be at Boston to receive this letter I shall hereafter particularize the you the objects, which require your return as soon as possible, or for you to give such directions respecting them as can be done only by you.
The first which occurs is the marching of Lieut Pratt — He on the 6th Inst sent to Wt Point from that place forty men and one Serjeant, and returns none remaining — In this number he includes four men brought with him from the westward, and four more who were enlisted there and join him in his march — He proposes being at West Point by the 23d Instant, and wishes strongly to be enabled to march by the 5th November — He proposes the necessity of having Tents provided for his party, and ready for him at the Point — As there none fit for use at that place, or at Philadelphia what is to be done? no provisions made for any in your directions to the Office — The Clothing is an object of Magnitude — Mr Kelt has given me reason to believe that it will be compleated by the 20th Inst excepting the woolen Overalls, which Cloth for which has been through mistake imported only for one pair Each man for 960 men — he cannot procure any of the same kind, either here or at Phila — He says he can procure blue sufficient, and of as good a quality as perhaps, but from an appli-
