Description

In order for settlement to take place, Howell requests the accounts of the officers from the first raising of their companies to the time of each settlement. Asks for details regarding recruiting, supplies of clothing, incidental charges. Refers to accounts of Mr. Wertz as helpful. The counties paid each man the allowance for rifles and blankets. Number of enlisted men may be obtained from vouchers of Mease and Caldwell. Asks that St. Clair procure every information in his power and close the accounts without an appeal to Congress.
