West Point Sept 3 1789 Sir Agreeable to your of 22d Ultimo, by Mr. A. Ingells [?].[crossed out words: I have] I have now delivered him twenty five Tons fifteen hundred of Damaged Cannon, Shells and shot, which makes in the whole One hundred and twenty five tons and fifteen hundred I now forward the returns of Ordnance and Quarter Master Stores for the month of August 1789 – I wrote you on the 4 Ultimo respecting the wood for the winter ensuing - please to inform me wether I shall engage any as the season is approaching fast when it will be difficult to get it here – If you should think it proper to have any [ illegible ] I can have it when [illegible ] until next spring – I amSir Vc- Honorable -Major General Knox Secretary at War
