New York 19th July 1789
Dear Sir
I am favoured with yours of the 8th which indisposition has prevented me from answering — by the last post I recd a letter from my Servant, who instead of running away, has run home to my house in Cambridge; & I think has by this misconduct disqualified himself for my Service — his indentures you will please to return & I will send them there for the disposal of his time — The act is not yet passed by the Senate, for the establishment of War & [undecipherable: Trea] & when passed will probably be published: if not I will send it to you — I thank you for your readiness to render me favors of friendship & remain my dear Sir your friend & huml Servt
H. Gerry
