[Genl. Jackson — July 19. 1799] Boston July 19. 1799 My dear Harry No 1. Your favor of the 9^th and the Inst. [undecipherable] — I was made happy to hear your dear little fellow was better & from my heart I rejoice with you & Mrs. [undecipherable] at the prospect of his recovery, which I pray God may be speedily affected. — I had concluded to send you by Cap^t. Bernard (this trip) the Military Stores &c which I have here under my care — but recollect that by the present Federal Gov-ment all the Forts &c are under their control, and not knowing but the Secretary at War may think proper to deposit the munitions in the Garrison on Castle Island, have determined to wait your pleasure on this subject — I have made an apology to [undecipherable] of your kind for you not writing them, which was fully satisfactory — on Wednesday last was Commencement at Cambridge, the day was cool & very agreeable. His Excellency the Governor attended but without any Military Parade — the Performances of the day far exceeded any for twenty years past — I thought much of you, as we were frequently together on those days — I have enclosed you the papers but they are not written personally — News we have none, all is peace & quiet in this quarter — The time if it has not past, cannot be far off, when the Officers for the Collection of the Revenue will be appointed. I am really anxious on this head, as I know many are applying & great influences have been and are making for some of them — by next Thursday's Post shall be looking out for the appointment our Wednesday lunch Club is at an end, owing to M^r. Coffey & M^r. Hubbard having removed into the Country & the being very inconvenient for them to attend to it in Town, and those in Town to attend to it in the Country — your friends are well & send their love to you & M^rs.
