I have wrote to several of the Hon^ble Members of Congress, to use their influence, in placing me, here in some public Office, whereby I might serve my Country, & benefit my Family, in my advanced age, & my Dear friend, let me urge your assistance, when opportunity presents, among y^e Members that you are conversant with, to promote me; you will know my Family, & that we have lived always in repute, & you also know that I have always been a staunch friend to my Country, & that I was of the Committee of Correspondence, in y^e most difficult times; & that I have met with heavy misfortunes, that has reduced me; and your Influence on my behalf, would most avail me; I am Sir with much esteem, y^r distressed friend & hble Serv^t W^m Davis PS.
