Dear Sir,
George Phillis and Michael Connor two Soldiers who [served] with the Maryland troops wish to have from some provision for their deficencies of Clothing, [the] Depreciation, [and] Warrants &c but are ignorant of the method of obtaining it — I know of no friend that is more capable of giving informations concerning it than yourself — have therefore taken the liberty of inclosing a copy of one of their discharges and if you will be kind enough to transmit to me the necessary directions it will be gratefully acknowledged as a favour done to a couple of good Soldiers —
Dr Sir
yours Respectfully
Jas Lewis
