In reply to your letter of the 30 Dec last I have to inform you that Major General Green & the Officers of the regiment to which you belonged considers your resignation as final and in consequence thereof the General made it known to the army in orders. it further appears by the musters in This Office & the Orderly Books of the regiment in the hands of Capt Fullerton that you were considered as resigned.
On these facts being produced the certificates which were issued for your pay for 1782. were recalled untill a final Settlement of your accounts as Pay Master should take place.
You stand charged in the Books of this office with the following sums of money. — Viz
