There is an action depending between Colt [undecipherable: Matthias] Ogden of the first Jersey Regiment an myself which occasions me to solicit you to furnish me with a certified Copy of his account from your Books Colt DeBt & Credit as it stands registered in your Office. you'd please to give it to Furman Yard to who[m] well inclose it in a letter to me please also to inform me when I may call for my certificates in consequence of the accounts left with you some time past, any expence attending this business shall be paid by me your compliance in this well oblige your Humt Sert

Your letter of the 1 Inst. came to hand this day. I should have been at an utter loss to have known what accounts were wanting in the case between you & Colt Ogden of Colt Conway had not a few minutes since accidentally called at the Office — The accounts you allude to Colt Conway informs me are respecting the stoppages made from the men in 1776 of the 1. Regt & which is supposed to have been recd by Colt Ogden — Colt Ogden has not filed any account of that nature with me or my predecessor, he stands charged in the Books of this Office
