Mr Dunscomb in his letter of the 12th Inst last informed me that the Specie pay in your hands due Capt Benjn Taliaferro is retained in consequence of sundry sums of money received by him & which I suppose were transmitted you for the purpose of being accounted for previous to your delivering the Specie warrant — on a reference to the papers of Benjn Harrison esqr D C M Gend, it appears that Capt Taliaferro left with Mr Harrison receipts for the amount of the monies received by him for pay of sundry soldiers returned from captivity — in consequence of which, I have closed the accounts of Capt Taliaferro in the Books of this office — you are therefore fully ob
