West Point Novr 5th 1788 Sir/ I forward by the Beaver Mr Hall on the 7th July last two three pounders with their implements, for which Mr Pembutton has given a receipt upon the Invoice - and for which he informs me he has not Received the pay for transportation - if that should be the Case - you will [undecipherable] to pay him if Convenient, as the Secretary at War in his letter of July 3d give me no directions to do it - neither have I any Money - I have not made no agreement with him about the price- I am sir & Mr William Knox -
