Memorandum — For Dr Johnston
Call upon Capt Howell in New York for a certified copy of three receipts given by Capt Abraham Smith for Majr Dunlaps pay in the 6 Pennsylvania regiment 1775. Viz. one rect for 2 months pay and one rect for one months pay recvd from Colo Trumbull — also one other rect to Mare & Colwell for Two thousand dollrs in which it is presumed the remainder of Dunlaps pay was included — I would wish Capt Howal to mention particularly as he did to me that I cannot receive any pay from the public untill the last mentioned rect is settled by Abram Smith, then Capt of the Regiment — and who had the setting of the accts —
