Sir,
I have recieved your favour of the 22. of Oct last relative to the depreciation accounts of this State and finds that your institution of the Act of Congress of the 10th of April 1785 is such as I expected, though I have no doubt but that claims upon the Union as equitable as those of Connecticut will be finally admitted —
I now inclose copies of sundry Acts of the General Assembly and Governor & Council of Safety, to enable you to form an idea of the engagements entered into by this State to their Logs of the Army and of the mode by which they have been fulfilled — By these Acts you will percieve that immediately, upon Raising the Army, the State undertook to Supply cloathing and refreshments at specie prices which were delivered by State Commissaries appointted for that purpose and that the families of officers and soldiers were also furnished with supplies at a stated price upon depositing a sum in nominal money equal to the specie value of the supplies which they were entitled to receive — the expenditures for these purposes reduced by the reales
