Howell esq^r] Lyme 22 Nov^r 1788. — Sir Eleazer Hudson, who was a Soldier in Holmer's company in the first Connecticut reg^t in the continental army and Jn^o Hevron who served in Richards's company in 1^st reg^t are entitled to pensions on acc^o of disabilities contracted in the service of the United States, and having been so unfortunate as to lose their discharges, desire me to write you, requesting a certificate of the time they were discharged — a certificate of this kind forwarded by the bearer, will do them essential Service — & oblige yours &c David F. Octo^r 24. 1788 — Dear Sir I have been informed by major Hodgdon, that a months pay as Brigade Chaplain in my favor, was retained by you, for the Society of the Cincinnata to be subject to my order. I now desire you to deliver the note for said months pay to Elijah Hubbard esq^r the bearer of this letter to be handed to me. The pay retained is for services performed in the year 1777. I am in conformity thereto entitled to a certificate of seventy five dollars bearing interest from the said last year. I refer the matter to you to do justice in the case and you will there by Oblige both the public and me. William Plumb — The Rev^d W^m Plumb } Middlton Connecticut — } Office of Army Accounts New York Decem^r 11. 1788— Sir Your letter of the 24 October last directed to M^r Pierce was handed to me yesterday. — I have examined the Books of this Office and find that the sum of Seventy five dollars was retained from you on the Settlement of an account for pay in the year 1777, being the amount of your Order in favor of the Treasurer of the Society of Cincinnata for the State of Connecticut. — Your order being on file with the accounts I do not conceive myself authorised to issue the certificate only to the Treasurer of the State on whom it is drawn, or to his Order. you conceive that the certificate should bear interest from the Year 1777.
