[M^r Richmond draws his best respects.] M^r Jo: W^h Joseph Howell Esq^r John White 14^th Sept^r 1788 To Samuel Osgood Esq^r Sir The return of the Hospital department for the year 1782 signed by D^r [undecipherable] arranges D^r [undecipherable] the first of February of that year — I have the Honor to be Sir Y^r M^t Serv^t Joseph Howell Comptrollers Office Philadelphia 17^th Sept^r 1788 Sir The Widow of Capt James Goldswood who was killed at the Battle of Brandywine 1777 applies to this State for half pay she says he was appointed Capt of an independent Company raised in Pennsyl^a and that he Comp just before the Petition and as being most convenient was then annexed to the 11^th Virginia regiment but that the remains of his company were incorporated with the Pennsyl^a regiment, I will thank you for information of this matter.
