War Office, Sept 15th 1788
Sir
The bearer John Henry Sleet applies to this Office for information, whether he is entitled to his bounty of land as a Discharged soldier in Hagan's late Regt— I have examined the book and find the name of Henry Sleet of Hagan's regiment, which does not correspond with the name inserted in his discharge— will you be so good as to investigate this matter, and let the bearer know if he is the person entitled to the bounty of land by the said name of Henry Sleet—

Joseph Howell Esqr John Stagg Junr

New York Sept 18th 1788
Sir
The bearer John Henry Sleet, is returned in the Accounts of Troop of General Hagan's Regiment by the name of Henry Sleet, and I have no means of saying he is entered by the name of Henry Sleet— there being no other person of this name in this regiment and the time of service mentioned in his discharge, corresponding with the time he has been settled for induces me to believe he is the person entered by the name of Henry Sleet and that he is entitled to the lands allowed by Congress—
