I have the pleasure to inform you that Congress have honored me with the Appointment lately held by our deceased friend — this took place 23 Ultimo —
There is a charge against Colonel Lee either for clothing received or for cash to purchase some for his Legion in 1782 or 83. the Colonel informs me that you are well acquainted with the circumstances of its distribution and that you were willing to close the Accounts by Arrearages due the Legion — As I am unacquainted with the nature of the transaction I have therefore to beg you will write me as soon as possible and give me such information as you possess
