In the absence of the Secretary at War I had the honor to write you on the 22d Ultimo, at the same time enclosed you a resolve on Congress of the 20th Ultimo, appointing you Agent for the Chickesaw nation of Indians the first was addressed to the care of, and to be forwarded by the postmaster at Richmond, and a duplicate to Hillsborough North Carolina with similar directions.
I now transmit you a resolve of Congress of the 1st Instant accompanying a Proclamation of the same date which is intended to have an extensive circulation, and therefore I take the liberty to enclose you ten copies.
