Sir,
In the absence of the Secretary at War I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your favors [strikethrough: of the 10th and 15th Ultimo from] [strikethrough: County Virginia, and also yours of the 25th Ulti] from Hillsborough North Carolina, with their enclosures, which were immediately transmitted to Congress.
I enclose you a Resolve of Congress of the 20th Instant appointing you Agent for [underline: the Chickasaw Nation of Indians, with the same powers as are Specified in your appointment] for the Cherokee Nation.
You have also enclosed the Resolvs of the 12th and 14th Instant which have been transmitted to the Superintendants of the Southern and Northern Districts.
