It is with equal surprize and concern [undecipherable] from you that the Honorable the Con[gress] [undecipherable] [appointed] you [as] commissioners to [undecipherable] [our] complaints [undecipherable] [give us] [undecipherable] in what concerns our territory [undecipherable] we are attempting to Wrest [undecipherable] [undecipherable] taught to ex-[pect] from the [justice] & humanity of that Honora[ble] [undecipherable] from the measure adopted by them [undecipherable] [undecipherable] us to be fully and [undecipherable] [undecipherable] of the [undecipherable] of the war between us [undecipherable] had great Expectation that we [undecipherable] [undecipherable] the good Effects of it in [being] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [of] our [grievances] [undecipherable]. And more [undecipherable] [particularly] [undecipherable] [among] us we did so firmly believe that we were upon the point of obtaining a satisfactory peace, that we [were] [ready] to meet you and conclude one, but your [undecipherable] [undecipherable] us that nothing has been done and all [is] yet to do. It was expected that the requisition which [I] made to you for removing the Georgeans from the [dis-][puted] [undecipherable]. It was to be [con]sidered by you as it was [undecipherable] [but] [undecipherable] as an indispensable [preliminary] [undecipherable] from the basis on which the treaty of [peace] [was] [undecipherable] [concluded]. [I feel] much pleasure in your approving of the [undecipherable] sentiments [as] expressed in my letter [by] [undecipherable] [Whitfield] [undecipherable] it is with regret that [I] [remark] that [our] [en][emy] does not manifest an equal disposition with [us] to terminate the [war] by agreeing [to] [equitable] terms of [peace].
