I wish you to inform me if you grant half pay or make provision to the Widows of those Soldiers who died or were killed, as is recommended by the Act of Congress of the 11th August 1779— one Eleanor Montgomery, who says she is the Widow of William Montgomery, late of the 1st Regt Army has made application to this State for the half pay, but on application I find the Laws of the State only provides for Widows of their own Soldiers. I will thank you to examine your list of Pensioners and inform me whether she is among them or not— if the Latter please to give me such instructions on the subject as to enable me to direct her the most to be provided for
