Sir
Your Letter of the 4th Instt & 18th were duly received. finding it impossible to obtain a Liquidation of the Claims of John Harry, Martin & John Whiteman, John Ingles and Abraham Hanna, I have withdrawn them from the Accompt and and delivered them to Mr R. Roberts of this City to forward to the proprietors, the principal objection to the settlement appears in the United States not having a party in the Appraisement and that the claims are of too General a Nature to be admitted, as I suppose they may be allowed at some future period. I have also been lately Informed that those Gentlemen may not be precluded in consequence of the Act of Congress which took place the 23 Instant and specified all claims not presented on or before that period.
I now enclose you the vouchers of the Vouchers left with me viz No 1. 2. 16. & 17 the last is not supported by any evidence of the Horse being lost and the latter are rejected in Consequence of the Quarter Masters accounts not being settled, which prevents Mr Claude having a Check on the Certificates. When Vouchers & Accounts are also noted for Inconvenience?
