My dear Howell The £20 worth of cloathing we received at York (Virginia) I have accounted with that state in our final settlement, you also made a deduction of it when I settled with you in NewYork M^r John Pendleton auditor of Virginia told me by obtaining a certificate from M^r Pierce (or I suppose yours would answer) of my settling it with you he would refund it which certificate, my dear Sir, I wish you'd send enclosed to me at the Conestoga waggons, Market Street by the first opportunity I have wrote M^r Pierce on the same subject which might suffice but for fear of his being out of the city or its not coming to hand immediately is the reason of my troubling you with it as I wait here for no other purpose I was in hopes of seeing you in Philadelphia— I would have gone to NewYork but am very unwell I am Dear Sir Yours sincerely Law^d Grant, late Capt 4^th Reg^t L Dragons Joseph Howell Esq^r
