Gentlemen
The printed registers of Certificates issued by the Commissioners of Army Accounts, are found in many instances erroneous — Some time since a partial examination took place and about 40,000 numbers were checked — to examine and check the residue I presume would take about 4 Months —
If the expense of an additional Clerk would not interfere with the arrangement of your Hon'ble board I should be happy in being authorised to employ one on this business, which will enable me to comply with the wishes of several Loan officers who have the indents of the United States to issue, in forwarding to them a list of such errors as may appears . . . . . . . . . . . .
