Dear Sir
Capt Cushing having been unfortunate in his application to Congress relative to his claim for rank, he has me exceedingly arranged him in his future prospects therefore wishes to engage in the office for some time in order to extricate himself from the difficulties he now lies under— You may recollect that I sometime since mentioned to you the necessity of printing the printed Registers & transmitting the errors to the several land offices— This business I am exceedingly anxious should be compleated and if it meets your approbation could wish that Capt Cushing might be employd on that business.
Pray did you wish to have the whole of your cash account drawn out & the vouchers examined? or from what period would you wish them to commence? I have requested Mr Undibelt's attention to this business— at present Mr Addiberts illness prevents his presence at the Office
I hope to have the pleasure of seeing you tomorrow if the weather will permit my taking my child an airing—
