Gentlemen
Congress from a consideration of the ill state of my health having granted me leave of absence, and as my office will be rendered less secure by the removal of my family I have to request of your Honble Board that you will be pleased to order the Treasurer of the United States to receive what national Papers I have remaining on hand, which will not be wanted in my office — I beg leave to inform your Honble Board that the business of my office during my absence will be conducted by Mr [undecipherable] whom I have continued my assistant for that purpose and from whom the Board will receive all official communications
