New York May 7. 1788
Madam
In answer to your letter of the 10th of March last received this day. I am to inform you that the Paymaster of the regiment to which Hugh Bradley belong'd has not closed his accounts, which forbids my then transmitting you a certificate for what was retained from Bradley on a supposition of his receiving the Money from the United States by the hands of [undecipherable] Lodge who paid us for the first Pennsylvania Regiment. He is somewhere in Pennsylvania but what part I am a stranger to and therefore cannot call on him for a settlement.
