New York 4th April 1788
My dear Biddle,
In consequence of your favor of the 10th of April I have written you a public letter relative to furnishing the Pennsylvania quota of troops with rations — I can obtain Warrants on the receiver of Continental taxes in Pennsylvania if you can obtain payment — I wish the business would be worthy of your attention — The Treasurers so poor that they cannot make other payments than by Warrants — I am Sensible that the ration must be higher than if paid for in hard money, but as the money received of Pennsylvania is not to be received as hard money I am apprehensive I shall not be able to make a great difference from the price the ration was supplied by you before — I regret my dear Sir that my means are so limited with
respect to serving so dear a friend as you are. — Mrs Knox and her little family are well, and send their love with mine to Mrs Biddle.
I am my dear Sir
Yours very Humble Servant
