[4] Office of Army Accounts New York March 13^th 1788 Dear Sir I must again beg your attention in forwarding the Muster & pay Rolls of the Pennsylvania Line that are in your possession — in consequence of the Eastern Accounts coming on M^r Pierce expects in a few days to employ several additional Clerks, and as we may expect the Accounts of Pennsylvania in a short Time I wish to be prepared for them, you will therefore oblige me in complying with my request. Pray Dear Sir, have you heard the fate of my Lands? I anxiously [strikethrough: expect] wish to be informed and will particularly thank you for a line on the Subject (signed) J Howell Jun^r J^no Nicholson Esq^r Office of Army Accounts New York March 13^th 1788 Sir Your Letters of the 2 & 9^th — instant are duly rec^d, in conversing with the Accomptant relative to the account sent me & which you request may be returned; he is of opinion they had better remain with him for if they are withdrawn there may be a probability of the Parties being foreflosed by neglecting to present them again in [5] due Season, and as [strikethrough: all] public Securities will (in my opinion) in a short time, be of equal value, no further loss will arise to the owners than a delay in procuring the Certificates which I flatter will be yet issued, at least I shall try to procure them. I will therefore let them rest with the Accomptant unless you still wish to have them sent on, which you will please to advise me of. M^r White in a Letter to M^r Pierce sometime since mentioned the Death of some of his Family, but did not inform what part, will you please to let me know which of them he has lost? — Agreeably to your request of the 9^th Inst.
