Your Letter of the 5 Inst to Mr Pierce was received this day. Mr Pierce is still at the Northward and the business of the department in his absence devolves on me. I do myself the Honor to inform you that I have examined the Original register and find the certificates issued to Mr John Clayes for his Commutation are as follows viz
