Sir
I take the liberty to inclose to you sundry Certi=
=cates as above, belonging to inhabitants of this State
for claims against the United States — Mr White has
promised the owners that he would forward them to the
Board of Treasury for Settlement — he is now in Maryland
and as his return here is uncertain, and the time Limited
for presenting such claims being nearly expired — Apprehe=
=nsive that any longer delay, may debar the acceptance
of them — I venture in his Name to solicit your good
Offices — that you will take the trouble to present them to
the board and [strikethrough: obtain] obtain Certificates in the Name of each
Claimant — they appear to be all as well authenticated
as circumstances would admit, and as accounts of a
similar nature have been heretofore settled by the
board, I hope no difficulty will attend these —
any charge you may be at, will be thankfully
repaid.
I am with respect
[undecipherable: probable reading Y'r Mo'st H'ble Serv't]
Jos Dawson
P.S.
As the funding Law of this State expires the last of
this Month if they can be settled previous to that time
the better — In addition to the within 13 Certificates, I
beg leave to inclose the following —
No 14 Robert Wright for Team hire — — — — 66.. Co Lettrs 9th

Mr Howells attention to this business will be acknowledged
as a particular favor, I also beg a line from you as
soon as convenient.
