Settling Accounts of Pay to Workmen from 1785
Document 1787In June 1785, Price sent Hodgdon a pay abstract for the men employed in the ordnance department at West Point. That same month, Hodgdon replied that the drafts for money to pay the men would be forthcoming. The money did not apparently arrive. The bearer of the letter, Mr. Robert Dunlap, is a storekeeper who paid the men when they were discharged and has a receipt for the sum. Price asks that Hodgdon pay Dunlap the amount due by the receipt.
